Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 1st November 2013 we've the swinging jazz violinist George Washingmachine leading the band...wowsers!!

George Washingmachine....a sort of legend in Australia as a jazz violinist...apart from his many gigs he often sits in at the Unity Hall Hotel in Balmain some Sundays with Gary Walford's band and both are two of the Bridge City Jazz Bands special guests this coming Friday 1st  November at Club Ashfield...
Drumming for us that night will be Neil Macbeth with the Bridge City Jazz Band regular members...John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on clarinet and alto saxophone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 25th October 2013 has popular Sydney cornet player Bill Dudley team up with pianist Gary Walford and drummer Neil Macbeth...

Bill Dudley is back at Club Ashfield with popular pianist Gary Walford, both who have regular gigs every Sunday in different areas of Sydney...they combine with drummer Neil Macbeth and the regular Bridge City Jazz Band members...Colin Davis, double bass; Colin Beal, clarinet and alto saxophone; John Bates on trombone and vocals and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.
Together, this coming Friday 25th October, we make a swinging traditional Jazz Band.....

Beside the Ashfield Railway Station on the northern or Parramatta Road side some 50 metres away at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield.
The gig is on the first floor of the Club in the bistro/function area commencing 7.30pm through to 10.30pm.

Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 18th October 2013 see popular Sydney trumpet player Geoff Power lead the band with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums....

Geoff Power is one of the busiest jazz musicians in Sydney and it is nice to be able to get him to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band and he's the band leader this coming Friday 18th October 2013 at Club Ashfield....
Club Ashfield likely now the home of regular traditional jazz in Sydney...5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield, 50 metres on the northern side of Ashfield Railway Station, with the gig on the first floor in the Club's bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm...and the admission is Free....
A piano player Geoff enjoys having in the band is with us on the Friday...Monique Lysiak and drumming for us is the smooth ever popular Joel Davis...
Thee complement the rest of  the regular Bridge City Jazz Band members, myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo, Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet and John Bates on trombone and vocals....

Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 11th October 2013, then Sunday 13th October sees members of the former Canberra based Black Mountain Jazz Band join up with the BCJB...leading on trumpet is Tony Thomas....

We always welcome the Canberra trio as I call them...the last of the former Black Mountain Jazz Band joining with us for the weekend...as The Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band playing of course at Club Ashfield, 5 Charlotte Street Ashfield beside Ashfield Railway Station in the first floor bistro area, 7.30pm to 10.30pm, then on Sunday 13th, weather permitting, at The Pines on the Old Northern Road just through Dural, 12.30pm to 4pm....
Two great venues and opportunities to hear the band...the Pines function has a modest admission fee...around $10 from memory...
Tony Thomas is leading us on trumpet and vocals, Ron Cook on piano and then keyboard and Ian Hill on drums, The Canberra Trio make up the special guests for the weekend with the usual BCJB crew....Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on alto sax and clarinet, John Bates on trombone and vocals and Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A band with a slight new Orleansy traditional Jazz flavour...
