Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 2nd October we've a "Farewell to Bill Dudley Night" with of course Bill Dudley leading the band on cornet, Gary Walford on piano and Jim Fletcher on drums....

Sadly for Sydney and especially the Bridge City Jazz Band, Bill Dudley and his lady Lynn Scarrow are moving to Cairns in far north Queensland, leaving towards the end of October, so we've a special night planned at Club Ashfield....
A "Farewell to Bill" night with of course Bill leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on cornet, old mate Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and on drums, Bill's New Orleanians drummer, Jim Fletcher..
Complementing them are the four Bridge City regulars, John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Sure to be some of Bill's muso friends dropping in during the night which is sure to be a great night...
And while this is Bill's "swansong" with the band, he's back on the 16th at Club Ashfield when I'm in the UK for 10 days with Cliff Parsons replacing me on banjo....then its all over....

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights.... Best of all the admission is FREE....

Future special guests with the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield and other BCJB future gigs...
