Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 5th July sees the band led by Mike Hallam on trumpet with Monique Lysiak on the Club's grand piano and Craig Lee on drums...

Ah it's nice to have Mike Hallam back this coming Friday leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet...Mike popped in the other week when Bob Barnard was the guest lead and Mike had a "sit-in"....he'll have his trombone and harmonicas with him, the the night will be interesting musically....
Monique Lysiak on piano...what can I say..she enjoys playing with band and we enjoy having her as a guest...
Craig Lee, Mike's stepson makes up the other special guest and he's playing some rhythmic, drums...
As usual, the four Bridge City JB regulars make up the seven...
Myself, DQ on banjo...Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and John Bates on trombone and vocals....

Well the Canberra boys are back.....!
The former Black Mountain Jazz Band combines with the Bridge City Jazz band for the night as the Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band....
A respected and sought after band...with a slight New Orleans flavour, musically the night swings....
Vocals by trumpet leader Tony Thomas and trombonist John Bates...piano by Ron Cook and drums by the man from the South...Ian Hill from Mossy Point...makes the long drive up to Sydney for the gig as do Tony and Ron from Canberra.....
Talk about keen....
Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo make up the band...

Big bad Bill's back!!
Yes Bill Dudley's back to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band on cornet this coming Friday 21st June at Club Ashfield...
A favourite pianist of the band and Bill, Gary Walford is along to play some swinging New Orleans style Jazz with former regular band member, drummer Jim Morrell along for his occasional gig with the band....
The rest of the usual band members wake up the seven piece traditional jazz band that the Bridge City Jazz Band is.....
John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on clarinet and alto saxophone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....

Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...this coming Friday 14th June sees the band led by Paul Furniss on soprano sax with Gary Walford on piano and Joel Davis on drums.....

When Paul Furniss leads the Bridge City Jazz band utilising is mastery of the soprano saxophone the band takes on a whole new image, perhas reminiscent of the days of Sidney Bechet....
Gary Walford is a great swinging New Orleans style pianist and Joel Davis the consummate drums fits in with any style....
With Paul sure to feature great clarinett duos with regular band reed player Colin Beal and John Bates on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo the band with "swing like a dunny door in a southerly"!
