Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 18th December, the last for the band for 2015 we've Geoff Bull, Gary Walford and Chris Gentle to help us play out the year.....

The evening, Friday 18th December 2015 is shaping up as a great one for the Bridge City Jazz Band, the last for 2015 and we won't be playing on New Years Eve either, the first day back in 2016 at Club Ashfield is Friday 8th January.....
We've three great special guests to join the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars...and the music will have a New Orleans traditional jazz flavour.....
Yes we've Geoff Bull on trumpet lead with great mate Gary Walford on the Club Ashfield's grand piano with Chris Gentle on the drum stool.....as mentioned, the usual Bridge City Jazz Band regulars.....John Bates on trombone and vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....
Come along and celebrate with us...perhaps dancing the night away.....







And we'll likely have Canadian banjo player Mike Hobbs call in to sit in with on the night us on the way to the 70th Australian Jazz Convention in Ballarat, Victoria...he's pictured here some years back with DQ at Bill Dudley's Strawberry Hills Hotel gig...

 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  
Best of all the admission is FREE....

The second last gig for the year with the Bridge City Jazz band as special guests sees the guys down from Canberra to join us....tony Thomas on trumpet lead and vocals, Ron Cook on the Club Ashfield grand piano and Ian Hill on the drum kit....joined by the Bridge City JB regulars, Colin Beal, reeds; Colin Davies, double bass; John Bates on trombone and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....
Be a great night of New Orleans influenced traditional jazz.....

Al Davey is a wizz on both trumpet and trombone and we've got him leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet this coming Friday 4th December 2015 at Club Ashfield with Kym Till on the Club's grand piano and Chris Gentle on drums all special guests with the Bridge City JB regulars...Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on reeds, John Bates on trombone and vocals and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
always a great night of traditional jazz and what is considered to be the home of traditional jazz in Sydney....Club Ashfield...

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 27th November we've a big birthday bash for popular Newcastle jazz pianist Rachel Hamilton ( Goeldner) with Paul Furniss leading the band and Jim Morrell on drums...

Rachel Hamilton is a great lady and mother to three lovely children and a super jazz pianist to boot...
So we in the Bridge City Jazz Band are really pleased to organise a 40th Birthday Bash at  for her at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 27th November 2015 with Paul Furniss on soprano sax lead and Jim Morrell on drums, both who have played in groups with Rachel over the years...as have the regular Bridge City JB members, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass, John Bates on trombone/vocals and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
As usual we'll have selected sit-ins with visiting musos, a great big A3 birthday card with photos of her family and musical life and a big birthday cake to celebrate with on the night....
