Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 30th January 2015, we've that great jazz violinist George Washingmachine leading the band with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano, Paul Furniss on reeds and Graham Hilgendorf on drums...what a night!!

We have George Washingmachine only several times a year at Club Ashfield...he's a popular and great jazz violinist and yes he's at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 30th January 2015 leading the Bridge City Jazz Band with Gary Walford on the Cclub's grand piano, Paul Furniss on reeds replacing our regular Colin Beal who is ill and Graham Hilgendorf on drums, all together with the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars...John Bates on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A super night shaping up..... Be there!





Club Ashfield is at 5 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights.... Best of all the admission is FREE....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 23rd January 2015 down from Canberra we've Tony Thomas on trumpet lead and Ron Cook on piano with Chris Gentle on drums....

Following some great sets at  the 69th Australian Jazz Convention in Swan Hill over Christmas/New Year, the Black Mountain and Bridge City Jazz Band are back together, and it's this Friday night 23rd January 2015.....coming down from Canberra is Tony Thomas playing trumpet lead and Ron Cook will be on the Clubs grand piano...joining them as the other special guest is Sydney drummer Chris Gentle...
The regular Bridge City JB guys make up the band ....John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....

Well the Bridge City Jazz Band started back last Friday following a two week break over the festive season and this coming Friday 16th January see Paul Furniss lead the band on Soprano saxophone, alto and clarinet with Frank Watts on the Club Ashfield grand piano and Graham Hilgendorf  who join with the Bridge City JB regulars....John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and Dennis Quinlan on banjo......
Traditional Jazz.. immanently danceable ...at it's best....

Well, a Happy New Year to all you Jazz Fans from The Bridge City Jazz Band.......
We are back at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 9th January for our first gig in 2015......
Bill Dudley finished the year off for us and is starting 2015 for us on cornet with Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on the drum seat.....
The core members of the Band....John Bates on trombone/vocals, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo are back from the 69th Australian Jazz convention in Swan Hill where we played regularly for the week with other interstate jazz musicians.....
John Bates came second in the Convention original tunes contest...he's won it six times previously.....
2015 at Club Ashfield will be off to a swinging start......
We look forward to seeing many of you again.....
