Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 3rd June we've Geoff Power leading the band on trumpet, Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano, Harry Harman on double bass and Jim Morrell on drums...

Geoff Power's back with us this coming Friday 3rd June to lead the Bridge city Jazz Band at Club Ashfield with other special guests Peter Locke on piano, Harry Harman on double Bass and Jim Morrell on drums...they join the Bridge City JB regulars Colin Beal on reeds, John Bates on trombone and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
With several of the band people who played with the late Eric Holroyd in The New Wolverine Jazz Orchestra and perhaps other bands we've invited his daughter Samantha Lysaught to attend with family and the evening will feature some music from The NWJO that Eric was the solo artist and perhaps singer.....a sort of tribute to Eric who was a great cornet player and often led the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield when he was still playing actively....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 13th May we've Kym Till on trumpet lead, Frank Watts on piano and Jim Morrell on drums....

Kym Till is often better known for his piano playing and we often hire him as such, but he plays a mean Bach trumpet and valve trombone and he'll lead the Bridge City Jazz Band on trumpet this coming Friday at Club Ashfield. One of three special guests to complement the Bridge City Jazz Band quartet making a seven piece traditional jazz band, the others being Frank Watts on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on the drum kit. The regular Bridge City Jazz band guys are Colin Davies on double bass, myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo, Colin Beal on reeds and John Bates on trombone and vocals....
As I mentioned, a great night of traditional jazz coming up.....
