Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 23rd December is our final night for the year...likely to be a little "Christmassy" with Mike Hallam leading on trumpet, Eric Gibbons on trombone, Gary Walford on piano and Jim Morrell on drums...

Well its a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all those who follow this website and perhaps pop along to Club Ashfield on a Friday evening to hear the band.....
Firstly there is NO JAZZ AT THE CLUB next Friday 30th December.....  
We've Mike Hallam on trumpet lead on the coming 23rd December at Club Ashfield and starting with us on our first evening in 2017, Friday 6th January, Mike will become our regular trombone player with John Bates relinquishing the position due to medical issues...John was with us for years , a great player and a huge asset to the band.....thanks John from all of us...
Gary Walford is on the Club's grand piano, Eric Gibbons is down from Newcastle to play trombone and perhaps a solo or two on bent soprano saxophone....
A former band member and no occasional drummer for us, Jim Morrell is on the bands drum stool...
Or regular band members, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo complete the band to the regular traditional seven piece jazz band....
Come along and finish the year off with us...







 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  



Best of all the admission is FREE....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 30th December we're having " A Celebration of 1920's Jazz" led by David Ridyard on soprano sax and other reeds, Brad Newman on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums...and Al Davey on trombone..

This coming Friday 16 December 2016 at Club Ashfield we've a special evening that features David Ridyard leading the Bridge City Jazz Band for "A Celebration of 1920's Jazz", Brad Newman is on the Club's grand piano, Jim Morrell is on drums and Al Davey on trombone ....they compliment the regular Bridge City Jazz Band personnel....Myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and Colin Beal on additional reeds and Colin Davies on double bass.....
This is building up to a super night of traditional jazz.......

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have four special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 9th December leading the band is Jiri Kripac on tpt, with Monique Lysiak on piano, Mike Hallam on trombone, and Chris Gentle on drums...and as its Verdon Morcom's 90th birthday he'll be along to play a couple of numbers with us..

Jiri Kripac's back from overseas and will be leading the Bridge City Jazz band at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 9th December 2016 with Monique Lysiak..."Unique Monique" on the Club's grand piano, Mike Hallam on trombone and Chris Gentle on drums.
A jazz pianist friend...Verdon Morcom becomes a nonagenarian..he's 90!... so he's popping in to play a couple of numbers, get fussed over and we'll have a birthday card for him...
The Bridge City Jazz Band regulars join to make up the 7 piece swinging traditional jazz band for the night....Colin Beal, reeds; Colin Davies, double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
