Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 5th August Greg Englert is back with us on trumpet lead, David Stevens on piano and Chris Gentle on drums....

Now we've got Greg Englert back in harness with us it's nice to have him lead the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 5th August 2016 with evergreen David Stevens , who has just turned 91 would you believe, on the Club's grand piano and a favourite...Chris Gentle on drums.....
They join the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars, John Bates, trombone/vocals; Colin Beal, reeds; Dennis Quinlan, banjo and welcome back to our regular bass player Colin Davies who has been in the UK for the last 3 months....

 Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  
Best of all the admission is FREE....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 29th July we're having Paul Furniss of soprano sax and reeds lead, Rachel Hamilton on piano, Craig Goeldner bass and Chris Gentle on drums.....

This coming Friday 29th July we've Paul Furniss leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano sax and other reeds at Club Ashfield....Rachel Hamilton will be on the Club's grand piano and Craig Goeldner on sousaphone with Chris Gentle on drums... and with the regular Bridge city JB musos, John Bates on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo we all make up the swinging traditional jazz band for the night....
Imminently "dance able"....
With the recent death of "Stan the Man"...Stan Allworth.. who was involved years ago with the Vanity Fair Hotel jazz mob, dabbling in saxophone, Paul intends to make some of the evening a tribute to Stan with numbers he liked and Paul has Stan's saxophone and will play it on the night....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 22nd July we're having " A Celebration of 1920's Jazz" led by David Ridyard on soprano sax and other reeds, Gary Walford on piano, Jim Morrell on drums and Gary Kohrmann on double bass....

This coming Friday 22nd July 2016 at Club Ashfield we've a special evening that features David Ridyard leading the Bridge City Jazz Band for "A Celebration of 1920's Jazz", Gary Walford is on the Club's grand piano, Jim Morrell is on drums and with our regular bass player away on a UK holiday for 3 months we had Gary Kohrmann on double bass....they compliment the regular Bridge City Jazz Band personnel....John Bates on trombone and vocals, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and Colin Beal on additional reeds.....
This is building up to a super night of traditional jazz.......

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday 15th July we've George Washingmachine on jazz violin lead, Gary Walford on piano, Max AlDuca on double bass and Graham Hilgendorf on drums...

Recently we had George Washingmachine as our guest lead and he's back with us at Club Ashfield on Friday 15th July, leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on jazz violin with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano, Max Al Duca on double bass and Graham Hilgendorf on drums....
Whew, again....a super night of traditional, dancing jazz coming up.....
