Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have four special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 2nd December leading the band on soprano sax is Paul Furniss with Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano, Mike Hallam on trombone and Chris Gentle on drums...

Having Paul Furniss lead the Bridge City Jazz Band this coming Friday 2nd December 2016 at Club Ashfield always gives the band a different, exciting feel with Paul's powerful playing...Bradley Newman is with us on piano, Mike Hallam on trombone and Chris Gentle on drums, together with the three Bridge City JB regulars...Colin Davies on double bass, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and Colin Beal on reeds.....
An exciting, dance able night of traditional jazz.....





Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....  

Best of all the admission is FREE....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have four special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 25th November leading the band on trumpet is Al Davey, who you'll recall played trombone for us last week...on trombone is Mike Hallam with Monique Lysiak on piano and Joel Davis on drums....

Al Davey is a great multi instrumentalist and while playing trombone for us last week, leads the Bridge City Jazz Band at Club Ashfield this Friday 25th November 2016 on trumpet.....
Mike Hallam is on trombone and he also plays trumpet for us, so may be some swapping on the night..."Unique" Monique Lysiak is on the Club's grand piano with "Mr Smoothie", Joel Davis on the bands drum kit...coupling with the Bridge City JB regulars Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo to give you great traditional jazz music for listening and dancing to....

The Bridge City Jazz Band like to encourage younger players into Jazz and we've the youthful James Power, one of the Sydney Power family of musicians leading the band on trumpet at Club Ashfield this coming Friday 18th November with Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano, Al Davey on trombone and Chris Gentle on the bands drum kit.....
The Bridge City JB regulars join them....Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo.
If you've heard James play in the Geoff Power Great Gatsby Orchestra you'll know we are in for a great night of traditional jazz .......

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 11th November we're celebrating "Hendo's 75th"...Bob Henderson's birthday with Bob on trumpet lead, Gary Walford on piano, Paul Furniss on tenor sax and Lawrie Thompson on drums....

The Bridge City Jazz Band are renowned for their "big birthday bashes" for special muso's reaching an auspicious age....this coming Friday 11th November 2016 at Club Ashfield we've another....
"Hendo's 75"!!
Bob Henderson turns 75 and we are celebrating with him on the night...Bob of course on trumpet lead, Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano, Paul Furniss on tenor sax and Lawrie Thompson on drums as the special guests, all joining the Bridge City JB regulars, Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on reeds and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....
Aghh what a night is shaping up.....
The usual special sit-ins, a large A3 birthday card with photos of Bob's musical life littering it's front and rear cover and a great birthday cake to share with the patrons....
Polish the dancing shoes and get down to Club Ashfield on the 11th....
7.30pm to 10.30pm...with great food available in the bistro during the early part of the night....
