Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 7th April 2017 at short notice we've the great jazz violinist George Washingmachine on lead with Gary Walford on the piano and Graham Hilgendorf on drums.....

Well "There'll be some changes made" as the old jazz number goes, this coming Friday 7th April at Club Ashfield...with Geoff Bull having to withdraw due to medical issues but as luck has it for us, that great jazz violinist George Washingmachine has stepped up to the plate to replace him and lead the Bridge City Jazz Band with Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and Graham Hilgendorf on the drumkit as the special guest for the night, joining the Bridge City JB regulars...Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, colin Davies on double bass and myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo...







Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

Greg Englert is a diehard Louis Amstrong fan and with Greg leading on trumpet this coming Friday 31st March 2017 there is sure to be a strong Louis influence in the tunes played....the other two special guests on the night at Club Ashfield are Bradley Newman on piano and Chris Gentle on drums.....
They join the Bridge City JB regulars...Colin Beal on reeds, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
Aghh, the though of the night excites me as I'm sure it does yourselves.....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 24th March 2017 we've a super two trumpet night with Geoff & James Power, Peter Locke on piano, Paul Furniss on reeds and Lawrie Thompson on drums...King Oliver and Tom Baker music...wow!

Last year the Bridge City Jazz Band had a two trumpet night at Club Ashfield with Geoff Power and his son James on trumpet lead and this coming Friday 24th March 2017 Geoff has agreed to a two trumpet night with himself and James on trumpet and featuring music from King Oliver and Tom Baker...with Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Paul Furniss on reeds  with Lawrie Thompson on drums together with the BCJB regulars, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass and myself on banjo...our regular reed player Colin Beal is having a night of dancing...
Shaping up to be a super night of traditional jazz.....

Dave Ridyard is back this coming Friday 17th March 2017. leading the Bridge City Jazz Band on soprano sax and reeds for his 5th Celebration of 1920's jazz at Club Ashfield..other special guests on the night are Bradley Newman on the Club's grand piano and Jim Morrell on drums...they add to the four BCJB regulars, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass & myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo making a great 7 piece traditional jazz band....
