Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 3rd February 2017 sees George Washingmachine back with us on jazz violin with Gary Walford on piano and Chris Gentle on drums...

Always an interesting night of traditional jazz at Club Ashfield with super jazz violinist George Washington leading the Bridge City Jazz Band...as well we've Gary Walford on the Club's grand piano and making his first appearance with George...Chris Gentle on drums.....
They add to  the Bridge City JB regulars...Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass and myself, Dennis Quinlan on banjo....
A great night of traditional jazz coming as I mentioned earlier....

SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT.....
John Bates who played with us in the Bridge City Jazz Band  and Paul Furniss' San Francisco Jazz Band for many years and many other groups around Australia in his over 60 years of playing is moving from Sydney with his partner Brenda Potter to Melbourne in March....
So we've a special  ""Farewell to John and Brenda" at Club Ashfield on Friday 24th February, 7.30pm.... the band will be led by Tony Thomas tpt, Ron Cook piano, Paul Furniss, reeds and Jim Morrell on drums...
John will socialise and perhaps do a song or two for us. 
His medical issues prevent him playing trombone.....

Club Ashfield is at 1-11 Charlotte Street, Ashfield beside the Ashfield Railway station on the northern side and the gig is up on the first floor in the bistro/Charlotte Room function area from 7.30pm to 10.30pm with the restaurant serving nice food until 9pm.....I always eat there on Jazz nights....

This coming Friday...the 27th of January 2017 sees Geoff Power back at Club Ashfield leading the Bridge City Jazz Band with Peter Locke on the Club's grand piano and Joel Davis on drums...joing the four Bridge City JB regulars, Mike Hallam on trombone, Colin Davies on double bass, Colin Beal on reeds and Dennis Quinlan on banjo.....
Geoff always leads an exciting night of traditional, danceable jazz.....

Welcome to Sydney's traditional jazz scene...live jazz in Sydney......Club Ashfield is the venue and with its long residency, The Bridge City Jazz Band is the band....a nominal 4 piece we have three special guests each Friday taking the band up to a 7 piece swinging trad.jazz band...and this coming Friday the 20th January 2017 sees Simon Stribling leading the band on trumpet with David Stevens on piano and Lauri Lyster on drums.....

David Stevens is a regular piano player with us here at Club Ashfield and he's bringing with him tonight to lead the Bridge City Jazz Band, on trumpet, Simon Stribling formerly of Melbourne, then Vancouver, B.C.,Canada and Simon's lady, Canadian Lauri Lyster, also from Vancouver, B.C , on drums....they join the Bridge City Jazz Band regulars...Colin Beal on reeds, Colin Davies on double bass, myself Dennis Quinlan on banjo and Mike Hallam on trombone/vocals....
It's shaping up to a great night of traditional jazz.....
